Russian Eagle Plaque
Russian Eagle Plaque
A round Copper plate or plaque, 4" diameter embossed with a beautiful Imperial Russian Eagle. It is an early Romanov Eagle without the 8 shields on the wings, probably made between 1857 and 1894. It has been cleaned and restored because it was apparently in a fire and also had so much dirty oxidation and crud on it that it was hard to even see the Eagle. It was cleaned and re-oxidized to darken the metal, then lightly cleaned on the upper surfaces of the Eagle. As a result, it has a nice patina and the Eagle really stands out!! This is a very attractive and old Russian Item and may be the only one to exist! I wish I knew what it was originally used for. It would look great on a wood plaque, framed or displayed with other "Czarist , Tsarist" items.  $60.
